What is dental treatment in Turkey like?
Most UK patients come to Antalya for veneers, crowns, dental implants or a combined smile makeover. Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic at Land of Smile, NewMe’s contracted dental clinic in Antalya, with an on-site lab. Veneers and crowns usually take 5–7 days in Antalya; implants need two visits, 3–6 months apart, so the implant can bond with the bone before the final teeth are fitted.
Everything starts with a plan you approve. Your photos or existing X-rays are reviewed before you travel, and on day 1 the clinic’s dentists confirm a written plan that lists exactly which treatment each tooth will receive — so nothing is decided for you in the chair.

SAFETY
Is it safe to have veneers or crowns in Turkey?
It can be — if healthy teeth are protected. “Turkey teeth” stories in the UK press usually describe healthy teeth filed down for full crowns when thinner veneers would have done. Our approach is the opposite: veneers with minimal preparation wherever possible, crowns only where a tooth genuinely needs one, and a written plan you approve before any tooth is touched. You are welcome to show that plan to your UK dentist for a second opinion.
Common and expected
Temporary sensitivity to hot and cold, sore gums and a few days of getting used to a new bite.
Less common
Gum irritation, a chipped or loose veneer or crown, and a bite that needs adjusting. All restorations eventually need replacing.
Rare but serious
Nerve damage that needs root canal treatment — more likely when healthy teeth are heavily prepared — and, for implants, infection around the implant or an implant that does not bond with the bone.

Where is my dental treatment done?
Your treatment takes place at Land of Smile, NewMe’s contracted dental clinic in Antalya and one of our contracted institutions, holding official authorisation for international health tourism. The clinic’s dentists carry out your assessment, digital smile design and treatment, with crowns and veneers made in the clinic’s own lab. On day 1 you are told which dentist will carry out your plan, and every appointment is coordinated in English.

Planning dental treatment in Turkey from the UK
NHS and cosmetic dentistry
NHS dentistry covers clinically necessary care. Veneers and whitening for cosmetic reasons are private treatment, implants are funded only in limited medical cases, and many UK patients struggle to find an NHS dentist at all.
Direct flights, about 4 hours
Antalya has direct flights from London, Manchester, Birmingham and other UK airports. UK passport holders can visit Turkey visa-free for up to 90 days.

Frequently asked questions
Veneers or crowns — what is the difference?
Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of healthy teeth for cosmetic change with minimal preparation; crowns cover the whole tooth and suit heavily filled, cracked or root-treated teeth. Many smile makeovers combine both — your plan specifies exactly which tooth gets which.
Will my healthy teeth be filed down?
Not unnecessarily. Veneers need only a thin layer of enamel preparation, and crowns are recommended only for teeth that genuinely need full coverage. Your written plan lists the treatment for each tooth, and you approve it before any preparation starts.
Can implants really be done in two visits?
Yes: implants are placed in visit one, then left to integrate with the bone for 3–6 months. In visit two the permanent crowns or bridge are fitted. Full-arch cases can sometimes receive fixed temporary teeth on the same day.
How long do I need to stay in Antalya?
Usually 5–7 days for veneers, crowns or a smile makeover. Implant patients make two shorter trips: one to place the implants and one, 3–6 months later, to fit the permanent teeth.
What guarantee do I get?
Restorations come with a written guarantee from our contracted clinic — typically 5+ years on crowns and veneers and up to lifetime on selected implant brands, subject to normal care and check-ups. Full terms are provided in writing with your treatment plan.
What happens if something goes wrong when I’m back in the UK?
Contact your NewMe coordinator on WhatsApp with photos. Many issues, such as a loose veneer, can be assessed remotely; anything covered by your guarantee is put right under its written terms. You also leave with your X-rays and treatment record for any UK dentist you see.
Will my new teeth look fake?
Only if you want ultra-white — and we’ll advise against it. With digital design you preview realistic shade options, and E-max porcelain mimics natural enamel translucency. Most patients choose a bright-but-believable result.
Do I need X-rays before I travel?
They help but are not essential. If you have a recent X-ray from your UK dentist, send it with your photos for a more accurate plan; otherwise full X-rays are taken at the clinic on day 1.
Which clinic is the treatment done at?
At Land of Smile in Antalya, NewMe’s contracted dental clinic, which holds official authorisation for international health tourism. Your assessment, digital smile design, treatment and lab work all take place there.
Is the hotel included?
No. Your package covers your agreed treatment, X-rays, digital design, VIP transfers and your written guarantee. Hotel nights are booked separately, and we can arrange a hotel close to the clinic for you.
